Im proud of myself :D

I find this hard to believe myself, but I just lived through my first semester of college. (Notice I never mentioned anything about passing O_O)
It is definitely different than high school, and it took me time to realize that I was going to have to change my study habits in order to do well. Even though I wasn't taking a lot classes, I still found it hard to find some free time. I always found myself studying, or working on papers.
i just now hope i do well in my exams and this final project....

Al Ameer, The Prince

Entering through the door, we were welcomed with the smiling waiters and the delicious aroma of the promising food. Despite the Christmas tree at the front, the restaurant had the energy and spirit of Eid, a Muslim holiday. Although individuals may come with friends, Al Ameer is a restaurant mostly fashioned and oriented as a family restaurant.

The time it took for our meals to be cooked and brought to our table was incredibly quick, however this may be because of the lack of customers at the time we were there. Bread was being served fresh from the oven, and was handed to us hot and fluffy with the sides of pickles and peppers as appetizers. The food was fresh and looked just like the pictures that were presented to us in the menus. Not only was the texture of the food unbelievably amazing, but also the taste was very delectable.

The waiters service has not been tested, since the restaurant, as mentioned before, had but a few families to serve. However, for the time that we have been there, the waiters and service was very efficient. They seemed happy to help us and answer any questions that was asked.

Eid and Thanksgiving

This break has passed by a little too quickly for my liking. Even though our break has started on Wednesday and i didn't have class on Wednesday, i still feel like it was yesterday that i was in class...
but now here i am, all over again, studying. I cannot wait for our Winter Break to begin, that way I won't have to study anything for a really long time--3 WEEKS!!! aaah, almost like heaven... uhh, not really

So this break, we celebrated two holidays as both Americans and then as Muslims. The first holiday was Thanksgiving, and as you already know, it is celebrating the pilgrims arrival. We went over a friend's house. That was really fun, we have been going for almost 3-4 years now. Since we have no extended family living in the US, we usually get together.

The second holiday is a Muslim one that we celebrate for 3 days. It is the same day that Prophet Abraham (if you know this story) was tested by being told to sacrifice his son, but was given a lamb instead. In Arabic, this holiday is called Eid. We have a lot of fun with our family on Eid, but this one was even better because my grandparents were with us (for the first time). We went to Zap Zone lazer tag, bowling, watched a movie, and just hung out together. I love this time we have together, since my parents, siblings, and I are always busy with either work or school. These days we all agree not to busy ourselves with anything but spending time together. And of course, the best part of the day is the gifts. ;p

So far, so good

i started working on my paper, and it looks like it wont be as hard as i thought it would. i have thought on this subject many times, so i kind of have my thoughts a little in order, if that makes sense. I already have a page and im only talking about the basics.
i am happy that i have already started and unlike my other papers i wont be panicking as much (at least i hope not).

The Final Project

im actually really excited about this project, theres only ONE thing though that i can live without: the 8-10 page paper. Im sure ill be ok, its just going to take me a very long time to do, so im gonna have to start now.
in canton, we have a recreation center and the only thing missing is an indoor swimming pool thats covered. the one thats there has a huge glass wall, so there really isnt any privacy. As muslim girls, we show modesty by covering our bodies, but at the same time we love swimming and, trust me, it is not comfortable swimming fully covered with a scarf around your head!
